Kotn was founded in 2015 by Rami Helali, Ben Sehl, and Mackenzie Yeates — three people who believed the fashion industry's supply chain was broken enough to rebuild from scratch. Rami left a private equity career, moved to Egypt's Nile Delta, and spent six months embedded with cotton farming communities before the brand existed. That immersion became the entire premise: you can't make ethical clothing if you've never met the people growing the cotton.
The name Kotn is the Egyptian Arabic pronunciation of cotton — a deliberate tribute to the geography and heritage of the people who make the brand possible. Every product traces back to specific farms in the Nile Delta, where long-staple Egyptian cotton has been grown for centuries. Kotn owns and operates its own cut-and-sew factory in Egypt, which means they control quality and labour conditions at every stage.
The impact numbers are among the most verifiable in fashion: 5,127 farms, more than 156,000 lives reached, and 21 schools funded in farming communities. The B Impact Score of 121.3 places Kotn in the top tier of certified B Corps globally — not just for fashion, but across all industries. Every order funds schools. Every piece of cotton is grown by people they know by name.
